Releases the New Aqua TROLL® 100 Instrument for Monitoring and
Logging Conductivity and Temperature
Instrument extends deployments, conserves power, and withstands harsh
environments
FORT COLLINS, COLORADO, March 18, 2009
In-Situ Inc. announced today the new Aqua TROLL® 100 instrument
for continuous measurement and logging of conductivity, salinity, and
temperature. Water quality professionals use conductivity measurements to
characterize water quality changes relative to a baseline or to estimate
the concentration of contaminants. The Aqua TROLL 100 is an ideal
instrument for monitoring saltwater intrusion, tracking movement of
tracers and saltwater fronts, evaluating impacts of deicing chemicals on
groundwater and surface water, estimating groundwater recharge rates,
analyzing storm surge events, assessing estuary and wetland restoration
projects, conducting remediation projects, and monitoring discharge.
To extend deployments, the titanium housing resists fouling and
safeguards against corrosion in marine and other harsh environments. In
addition, the integrated reference electrode compensates for light sensor
fouling. Equipping the Aqua TROLL 100 with the new
TROLL® Shield antifouling system will further reduce
biofouling and lengthen instrument deployment by six weeks or more
depending on site conditions. Internal batteries are guaranteed for five
years when reading every 15 minutes. External batteries, solar power, or
external 8-36 VDC options are also available.
For telemetry and SCADA systems, the Aqua TROLL 100 offers
open-architecture communication protocols, including Modbus RS485, SDI-12,
or 4-20 mA signal outputs. Telemetered units can be accessed directly or
via the secure, web-based In-Situ® Data Center.
The Aqua TROLL 100 instrument includes linear, linear average, and
event logging modes with a one per second logging rate and four megabytes
of memory for up to 380,000 data points (time and date plus one parameter
logged). Industry-leading Win-Situ® software, standard with
each instrument, simplifies instrument setup, automates site management,
displays data graphically, and provides real-time data and instrument
status. For added flexibility, the instrument also derives and reports
values for salinity, total dissolved solids (TDS), resistivity, and water
density.
The Aqua TROLL 100 instrument is now commercially available. The
instrument easily connects with the In-Situ RuggedReader®
handheld PC, a laptop, or a TROLL® Link telemetry system.
