Embodied in every Aquacell wastewater sampler is the tried and tested Aquamatic Air Pump Sample Extraction System.  The sampler is operated / programmed using the 17 button membrane keypad in conjunction with a 16 x 2 character liquid crystal display.  This pump system design has many advantages over traditional designs including peristaltic pump systems - see here for more details.

Features:

  • Air pump vacuum system.
  • Blockage-resistant sample tract.
  • Easy-clean sample tract.
  • Highly repeatable sample volume.
  • Humidity controlled electronics for reliability.
  • Very easy to program.
  • All sampler / bottler operations (including fault conditions) are logged with optional RS232 download facility.

Optional ancillary signal connection provides the following facilities:

  • Samplers accept flow input from separate flow-meter (either volt-free contact closure impulses or 4–20 mA signal).
  • Samplers can be controlled from a remote enable signal (volt-free contact closure).
  • “Sample Acquired” and “Sampler Malfunction” outputs (volt-free contact closures) are available.
  • RS232 download (at additional cost).

Why the “air pump” and not the “peristaltic pump” sample extraction system?
Subject Aquacell "air pump" sampler Typical "peristaltic pump" sampler
Sample tract 12mm intake increasing progressively to outlet - good blockage resistance 9.5mm

Visibility of Sample tract Almost entirely visible so you can watch the sampling process taking place. Much of the sample tract is invisible.
Pump No contact with sample media Sample media passes through pump. Sharp solids have the potential to puncture the pump tube and disable the sampler.
Sample Volume Absolutely consistent

Variable with:
- Pump speed
- Supply voltage
- Lift height
- Degree of pump tube wear
- Temperature

Sample media tolerance Operates OK on sewage sludge See "Sample tract" above
Maintenance Occasionally clean sample chamber Periodically replace sample tube
