New from Dormer, a
saturated soil sampler that retains the sample using a standard plastic soil sample
catcher. The sampler collects a sample inside a clear soft plastic 'sausage' tube.
It works well in sediment and very wet soils, even under water. How it Works
The UWS sampler is for very wet materials. It is pushed in by hand using either a
T-handle and extensions, or a slide hammer. The sample tube is 33mm ID x 1.0m long.
The sample fills to about 2/3 the length of the tube. The nose is unscrewed, then
the sample is pulled out in the plastic 'sausage'.
Field Trial Comments
Successfully field trialed in muddy river banks, sand tidal flats near the ocean and sugar
cane drains. The sampler pushes in by hand fairly easily and produces excellent
samples.
